Jam Club 1st Sunday each month 10.00 - 12.00 noon, other Sundays 10.15 - 11.40am

Why not bring your 3 to 11 year old children to our 'Jam Club'. On the first Sunday of each month the club starts at 10.00 am and finishes at 12 noon. The following Sundays the club will start at 10.15 am and finish at 11.40 am.

Your children will be most welcome.

Badminton ClubMonday 8 pm - 10 pm

The Club meets on most Monday evenings during the year for a couple of hours of friendly badminton of variable energy and ability, punctuated by a long tea break. The lack of members does mean however that our resources are very thinly stretched.

New members are desperately needed and would be very warmly welcomed.
Church FellowshipTuesday 8 pm - 9 pm

This group meets fortnightly on Tuesdays throughout the year with up to seven coming together for fellowship, bible study and discussion. Use has sometimes been made of audiotapes to introduce topics and to enable us to share the faith and doubts of some well known personalities. Discussions tend to be wide ranging and are not always closely linked to what has gone before but our evenings are enjoyable, stimulating and often challenging.

Study of the scriptures, prayer and fellowship characterised the early church; it is good for us to follow their example.
SisterhoodThursday 2.30 pm – 4 pm

In 1875 John Blackham, a young publisher was inspired to start a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon meeting for men in the Ebenezer Congregational Church, West Bromwich. Others saw how popular this meeting became and started similar gatherings, first in the West Midlands but soon others sprang up around the country.

By 1906 these meetings were so numerous that it was decided to create one national Movement, The Brotherhood Movement. The aims and the service of the Movement began to appeal to women, and in 1912 the Sisterhood Movement developed which now functions as part of the same organisation, known as The Brotherhood and Sisterhood Movement, whose aims are to unite its members in Christian fellowship and practical service.

Times have changed, the membership for such meetings has reduced, but the Sisterhood still meets regularly enjoying fellowship together and interesting meetings.

We are a lively enthusiastic group of ladies who meet each week. We try to get a variety of speakers, sometimes we have a holiday film show and sometimes we entertain ourselves, which is always an enjoyable afternoon.

Thursday Social Club Alternate Thursdays 8 pm

This club is open to anyone connected to the Methodist church. We meet on alternate Thursdays and have a variety of speakers, organise quizzes, visit local churches, enjoy trips to the theatre, local restaurants and a host of other activities.
Friday ClubFriday 5.30 pm - 7 pm

If you are between 7 and 13 years old why not come to our Friday Club. We have planned a varied programme of interesting activities for young people. We will not be making a charge for attending the club, but we will have a small tuck shop selling crisps and sweets. Outings and events may be arranged with a cost attached but you will be notified in advance of these. You are welcome to bring your own named games or music on some evenings.

Please feel free to bring along a friend and enjoy your evening together.
Youth ClubFriday 7.15 pm - 9.00 pm

Are you between 11 and 14 years old? Then why not come to our Youth Club. The Youth Club sessions are very informal with few organised activities. The girls mainly spend their evenings listening to music, dancing or playing table or group games. The boys generally prefer to play table tennis, snooker, table football or magnetic darts. We also have computers, play stations and dance mats available. We would invite anyone to come along and pay us a visit.

New members and casual visitors always welcome.
Hockley Scrabble Club Second Saturday each month 2 pm – 5 pm

This well established group has been meeting at Hockley and Hawkwell Methodist Church for many years and now boasts 36 members, plus a few visitors from time to time. We have a good relationship with other local Scrabble Clubs and are affiliated to the Association of British Scrabble Players (ABSP). Various social activities are arranged during the year including an annual holiday to Eastbourne.

This is a friendly club, where players of any ability are welcome. Many of our members regularly attend outside tournaments and have reached such a high standard that they often come home with trophies. This should not deter new members however as we give assistance to beginners and ensure that they are not matched against our high-fliers.

Scrabble is played at 2.00 pm on the second Saturday of each month at the Methodist Church, and at 6.45 – 10.30 pm every Tuesday at Hockley Parish Hall. We are always pleased to welcome newcomers, so why not give us a try. If you would like to join us, just turn up on the day, first two visits are free.

HockmiraAs arranged

HOCKMIRA stands for Hockley Methodist Inactive Ramblers Association. We don’t meet on a regular basis (hence the "Inactive" bit!!) but we are an enthusiastic group of walkers who trudge around the footpaths of Hockley and the surrounding areas.
